California Highlights

Oh, how I already miss California! Here are some pictures of the highlights of our trip.

If you leave your room's balcony door open in Surf and Sand, you can listen the sweet lullaby played by the waves. In the morning you may greet the dolphins.

The Surf City USA, Huntington Beach

Saavuimme Palm Springsiin myöhään illalla ja Pancho piti saada heti nukkumaan. Huoneessamme oli viehättävä terassi, joten tilasimme huonepalvelusta täydellisen illallisen viinipullon & kynttilän kera ja nautimme yhden matkan parhaista illallisista. Levolliset unet varmistimme vastaleivotuilla lämpimillä suklaakekseillä ja lasillisella kylmää maitoa, mmmmm.

We arrived Palm Springs late in the evening and had to get Pancho to bed asap. Luckily Viceroy Palm Springs has a good restaurant and the chef was still willing to cook for us so the room service delivered an excellent dinner with a bottle of tasty Californian red and a candle to our terrace. And for the dessert in the desert we had warm, freshly baked chocolate chip cookies with a class a cold milk. Boy, we slept delicious that night.

Pidimme kovasti Palm Springsistä. Poltimme Desert Hill Premium Outletissa pari lomapäivää ja saman verran luottokortteja mutta nyt on joululahjat ostettu ja Pancholle vaatteita koko vuodeksi. Hotellit olivat chic, cool ja järkevän hintaisia. Opimme, että marraskuun ensimmäisellä viikolla Palm Springsisä on Gay Pride, matkan varrelle osuu maailman suurimmat feikkidinosaurukset, Elvis kantoi Priscillansa kynnyksen yli Palm Springsin honey moon asunnossaan, egg benedict ja aamiaisburritot ovat suosittuja aamiaisannoksia, lasten annoksen 4 kurkun palaa, 4 tomaatipalaa ja 4 avocadoviipaletta voivat todellakin maksaa dollarin kappale (siis 12 USD yhteensä!), Palm Springsissä on tähän mennessä suurimmat näkemämme tuuliturbiinipuistot ja aavikolla on kuumat päivät mutta yllättävän kylmät yöt. Suosittelemme lämpimästi.

We liked Palm Springs. We spent a couple of days and a couple of credit cards in Desert Hill Premium Outlet so all the christmas presents are now done and Pancho has clothes for the next year. The hotels were chick, cool and reasonable priced. We learnt that there is a Gay Pride on the first week of November, you may see the biggest fake dinosaurs in Palm Springs and Elvis carried his Priscilla over the doormat in their Honeymoon apartment in Palm Springs. We also learnt that eggs benedict (prepared in various ways) and breakfast burritos are popular on the breakfast menus and a child's side order of 4 slices of cucumber, 4 slices of tomato and 4 slices of avocado may cost one dollar each slice (12 USD in total and he didn't even finish them...). We saw the biggest wind turbine parks and noticed that the days in the desert are very hot and the nights are surprisingly cold. All in all, Tzinzi Travels highly recommends Palm Springs.

Vuokrasimme pyörät Venice Beachillä ja pyöräilimme koko rannan aina Santa Monica pierille asti. Miten onnellista!!

We rented bikes on Venice Beach and cycled all the way up to Santa Monica Pier (and a little further). Oh how happy I was!!

Koko matkan kohokohta oli vuorokausi Ojai Valley Inn &  Spassa mutta se onkin oma juttunsa eli siitä enemmän ensi kerralla. Hyvää viikonloppua muruset!

The ultimate highlight of our trip was a stay in Ojai Valley Inn &  Spa but that is a whole new story. I'll tell you more next time. Now it is time to sleep.
