Katsoimme viikonloppuna elokuvan Place Beyond the Pines. Katsoin trailerin neljä kertaa ennen kuin uskalsin vuokrata sen. Minä ja mieheni pidämme nimittäin onnellisista lopuista ja läpi elokuvan pelkäsimme, että tällä elokuvalla on lohduttoman surullinen loppu. En paljasta juonesta sen suurempia mutta jotta kenenkään muun katselukokemuksen yllä ei roikkuisi samanlainen jännityksen varjo, paljastan, että sen loppu ei ole niin murheellinen kuin mitä pelkäsimme.

We watched Place Beyond the Pines on Saturday. I saw the trailer four times before I encouraged myself to rent it. The thing is that me and my husband, we like movies with a happy ending. Before, during and until the very last minute of the movie we were convinced that the movie will have an endlessly sad ending. I won't reveal further details about it but I just say that it does not have such a miserable ending as we were afraid of.

 

Kuten trailer lupaa, elokuva on isistä, pojista ja seurauksista. Pienen pojan vanhempina tarina kosketti sekä minua että Pepperiä. Liikutuimme hellyydestä kohdissa, joissa käsiteltiin isän suhdetta pieneen vauvaan ja liikutuimme huolesta ajatuksella"toivottavasti meidän Pancholle ei käy noin" kohdissa, joissa käsiteltiin nuorten poikien elämää, ongelmia, ajatusmaailmaa ja vaikeita suhteita.

Elokuva kertoo ilmiömäisestä moottoripyörätaiturista, joka alkaa ryöstää pankkeja saatuaan tietää olevansa isä voidakseen pitää pojastaan huolta sekä tapahtumaketjuun sattumalta liittyvästä poliisista, jonka kohtalokkaan työvuoron jälkeen mikään ei ole enää entisensä. Ennen kaikkea elokuva on kuvaus siitä, miten teoillamme saattaa olla paljon kauaskantoisempia seuraamuksia kuin mitä koskaan uskallamme/osaamme edes ajatella. Tarina on pilkottu kolmeen toisiinsa nivoutuvaan osaan, olen tämän tyyppisen kerronan ystävä.

As the trailer promises, the movie is about fathers, sons and the consequences. As parents of a small boy, the story touched both me and Mr. Pepper. We were touched "oh that is so sweet" type of way on the scenes with babies and their fathers and touched "oh, I hope that will never happen to our Pancho" type of way on the scenes with youngsters, their problems with life, friends and drugs.

The movie is about a motorcycle stuntman who starts to rob banks after he discovers that he has a son who he wants to take care of and a police who gets involved by coincidence. After their confortation nothing is the same. Above all, the movie is a story about how our acts and decisions might have bigger and longer consequences than we could ever imagine.

Hyvän elokuvan tunnistaa mielestäni siitä, että se herättää tunteita ja on ajatuksissa vielä seuraavanakin päivänä. Näillä kriteereillä elokuva oli hyvä. Se, että päätin tehdä siitä postauksen taitaa nostaa sen arvostelussani erinomaiseksi.

I think you recognize a good movie when it creates emotions and when you still think about it on the following day(s). Based on these criteria, the movie was good. The fact that I decided to write a post about it makes it, in my opinion, excellent.

Mielenkiintoinen behind the scenes-tietona mainittakoon, että elokuvan pariskunta Ryan Gosling ja Eva Mendes ovat pari tosi elämässäkin.

Olen aina pitänyt Bradley Cooperista, hänessä on jotain niin tuttua. Tätä elokuvaa katsoessa keksin miksi. Ladies and gentleman, iltapalaksi nämä kaksi marjaa.
