A lovely Danish family lives around the corner and they have a beautiful home. Here are some pictures from their little boy's room and some stories behind the decoration told by my friend.

"I love the airplane the most. My father made it when he was a child in Sweden and gave it to my son for his christening. I have looked at the plane for many years, but I never knew the story behind it until it was given to my own son."

"Myös Kööpenhamina julisteen nimeltä "Ankkaemo" pieni V sai ristiäislahjaksi. Sen on suunnitellut tanskalainen arkkiterhti Viggo Vagnby markkinoimaan Kööpenhaminaa. Retrosänky on nimeltään Kili Juno. Sen design on alunperin tunnettu 50 luvun elokuvasta nimeltä "Neljän isä" missä nuorin neljästä lapsesta nukkui tällaisessa sängyssä. Sänky on saanut nimensä elokuvan hahmon Pikku Perin mukaan. Ikean leikkikeittiön tuunasin vaihtamalla kaapin nupit."

"The Copenhagen poster was also a christening present for little V. It is made by Danish architect Viggo Vagnby and is called 'Andemor' (duck mum) to promote Copenhagen. The bed is called killi juno - and it is very retro - the design was first known from a children's movie from the '50 called 'Far til fire' (a dad of four) where the youngest of the four children had this bed. It is therefor also named after the character in the movie Lille Per. I tuned the Ikea's playkitchen by changing the handles."

"ABC and numbers posters are by Swedish designer  Sandra Isaksson and the boxes from Danish nic nac shop "Søstrene Grene"

"Sain nojatuolin vieressä olevan kirjahyllyn vanhalta kollegaltani.

"The book shelf was given to me by a former colleague of mine. It is ment to be used for plates - and is really a platerack but I repaired it and voilá, it became a book self. The toy self below the window is from Montana."

Thank you dear Ms. D for permitting me to share the pictures and the stories!

  1. My name is Joe Pinzone and I'm casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We'd love to film in Switzerland and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 1-2 years or have been there for 3-4 years, but recently moved into a new home. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. I wanted to know if you could help spread the word to expats living there or are close to moving. If you'd like more information, please give me a call at 212-231-7716 or skype me at joefromnyc. You can also email me at joepinzone@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.
