Take Your Pleasure Seriously - Charles Eames

Mieheni täytti viime kuussa 40 vuotta. Vuosikausia hän on haaveillut ja unelmoinut Charles & Ray Eamsin Lounge Chair-nojatuolista ja muutettuamme Sveitsiin, sattui niin sopivasti, että uusilta kotikulmiltamme löytyi VitraHaus, joka tuoleja valmistaa. Pidämme siitä, että huonekaluillamme on tarina ja vuoden asiaa fiilisteltyään ja tarinaa maisteltuaan, Pepper päätti ostaa itselleen syntymäpäivälahjaksi (loppu)elämänsä nojatuolin.

Last month my husband turned 40. For years he has been dreaming of Charles & Ray Eams Lounge Chair and when we moved to Switzerland, we conveniently discovered that Lounge Chairs are manufactured in VitraHaus which is located very close to us. We like our furniture to have stories and after a year long careful thinking, he came to a conclusion that the story "I bought myself a Lounge Chair for my 40th birthday and it was manufactured where we live" was good enough and decided to get the armchair of (the rest of his) life.

Lounge Chair valmistetaan käsityönä ja asiakkaan toiveiden mukaisesti Lounge Chair Ateljeessa. Asiakas voi valita tuolinsa puumateriaalin viidestä eri vaihtoehdosta, nahan 4 eri väristä ja kahdesta eri laadusta. Tuolin ja rahin jalan vaihtoehtoja on neljä. Vuosien haaveilusta huolimatta, Pinterest ja sisustuslehdet olivat auki kerran jos toisenkin, kun haimme inspiraatiota oikeaan kombinaatioon. Vaihtoehtoja pyöriteltiin jopa kyllästymiseen asti tämän sovelluksen avulla, ennen kuin  mieheni oli valmis tilaamaan itselleen juuri hänenlaisensa tuolin (musta premium nahka, puuosat tummaa pähkinää ja jalka musta, jossa crominen päällys).

The Lounge Chairs are hand made in Lounge Chair Atelier according to the customer's preferences. First the size of the chair shall be chosen. My husband is tall so he was happy to be able to choose a chair with longer back. After the size, he got into the materials. There are five options to choose from for the wooden parts, 4 colors and 2 qualities for the leather and 4 options for the base. Despite of the fact that he has been dreaming of this chair for multiple years, we spent hours on Pinterest and reading home decor and design magazines looking for the inspiration for the right combination. Pepper also used this configurator before he could make up his mind on what kind of a chair would suit him and our home best (black premium leather cover, black pigmented walnut seat and back shell and black base with chrome).

Kun päätös on tehty ja materiaalit valittu, asiakkaalle tarjotaan kuplivaa ja hän voi rentoutua ja istahtaa seuraamaan miten unelmien tuoli laitetaan toiveidensa mukaisesti kasaan.

After the customer has made up his mind on the materials and the right combination, a glass of sparkling is offered to accompany the customer while he/she may sit down, relax and watch how his/her special dream armchair is beign mounted.

Ja tältä se sitten näyttää meidän olohuoneessa. Tämäkin blogikirjoitus on tässä tuolissa istuen näpytelty, ja se ON mukava. Ehkä tällainen pitää tilata myös vaimolle 40-vuotislahjaksi (mikäli jaksan odotaa sen  15 vuotta).

And this is how it looks like in our living room. This post was typed sitting on this beauty and I can assure you, it IS comfortable. We might need to get another of these for my 40th birthday (if I can wait those 15 years).
