Tax Free Shopping by Design Tourists

Työ/vierashuoneestamme puuttui tuoli. Metsästin edullista nettikauppaa mutta sattumalta haavini tarttuikin tieto, että tuoleja valmistetaan naapurissa lähes kulman takana. Sveitsin kallista hintatasoa kauhistelevaa lohduttaa tieto, että kaikesta EU:sta ostettavasta saa rajalla verot takaisin. (meillä syödään mm. tax free jauhelihaa).

Teimme bussilla hienon sunnuntairetken Saksan Weil am Rheinin VitraHausiin. Tai itse asiassa kaksi retkeä: Ensimmäisellä tutustuimme näyttelyyn ja tilasimme tuolin ja toisella noudimme sen. Kummallakin kerralla nautimme cappuccinot VitraHausin kahvilassa/sen terassilla. Bussien verkkaisesta sunnuntai-aikatauluista johtuen, ylitimme rajan helteessä kävellen, minä, mieheni, vauva ja tuoli. Pidän esineistä, joilla on tarina. Tällä on. Olen iloinen.

VitraHaus on upea ja avoinna vuoden jokaisena päivänä klo 10-18.

There was a lack of side chair in our home-office/guest room. I was hunting a reasonable priced webpage to order one and by coincidence found out that those chairs are manufactured in the neighbor very close to us. Switzerland can be extremely expensive but the good news is that you can get tax back on items purchased in EU (we eat tax free minced meat). -so we made a beautiful Sunday trip to VitraHaus , Weil am Rhein, Germany.

In fact we made two trips: on the first we visited the VitraHaus and ordered the chair and on the second we picked it up. On both trips we enjoyed cappuccinos in VitraHaus Cafe/its terrace. It was a hot day and due to lazy Sunday buss schedules, we crossed the border walking: me, my husband, the baby and the chair. I love furniture with stories. This has a one. I'm happy.

VitraHaus is gorgeous and open every day year round from 10 am to 6 pm.

Kohtaamisia

Olen tutustunut uuden kodin ympäristöön. Naapurustossa asuu ponihäntätukkainen mies, joka ulkoiluttaa isoa, iloisen väristä papukaijjaa. Eilen papukaija istui hänen olallaan, tänään se oli kietonut kyntensä miehen etusormen ympärille. En nähnyt papukaijalla talutushihnaa. Meillä on aika isot ikkunat. Jos tuulettaessa se lentää meidän olohuoneeseen,  saako löytäjä pitää?

Kävin äitini kanssa kaupungin hienoimman tavaratalon ruokaosastolla. Osastoksilla oli myös eräs mies. Hänellä oli lyhyt tukka, hieman parransänkeä, harmahtava neule, tummanharmaa hupullinen toppatakki ja musta reppu. Äkkisilmäisyllä tuiki tavallinen mies. Toisella silmäyksellä rekisteröin, että neule-toppatakki-selkäreppukombi oli yhdistetty mustiin verkkosukkahousuihin, piukeaan farkkuminihameseen ja korkokenkiin. Mielestäni asuvalinta oli yllättävä. Äitini mielestä erikoinen. Miehellä oli erinomaisen sirot sääret, verkkosukkahousut olivat niille edukseen.

Luulin aiemmin, että Sveitsissä on konservatiivista. Jopa tylsää. Vaikuttaa sille, että olen ollut väärässä.

I have been exploring the surroundings of our new home. I noticed that there is a man in the neighborhood who takes a daily walk with a big, colorful parrot. Yesterday the parrot sat on his shoulder. Today it had wrapped its nails around man’s finger. I didn’t see a leash. We have big windows. If the parrot flies into our living room, can the finder keep it?

I visited city’s finest grocery store with my mother. There was also a man. He had short hair, his face was covered with a couple of day’s stubble, he had grey pullover, grey quilted jacket and a black backpack. At first sight he seemed to be a very ordinary man. On the second look I noticed that he had combined his outfit with black fishnet stockings, denim miniskirt and high heels. I thought his outfit was surprising. My mother found it strange. He had excellent legs, the fishnet stockings were favorable for them.

I used to think the Swiss are conservative. Even boring. It seems like I was wrong.

Busy busy moving girl

Olemme muuttaneet uuteen kotiin. Muuttolaatikoita tuli 240. Palaan linjoille, kun saan kaaoksen hallintaan. *** We have moved to a new home. There were 240 moving boxes. I'll be back as soon as I master this chaos again.

The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared

Luin loistavan kirjan. Se tarttui mukaani kirjakaupan katuständiltä ja voi pojat mikä saalis verkkoihini puolivahingossa ui!

Suomeksikin käännetty Satavuotias Joka Kiipesi Ulos Ikkunasta ja Katosi on yksi parhaista kirjoista, joita olen lukenut vuosiin. Se on hauska, hullu ja yllättävää kyllä erittäin sivistävä. Mitä pidemmälle luin, sitä enemmän punastuin tajutessani huonon lähivuosisadan historian tuntemukseni mutta kiitos Jonas Jonassonin, osasin asiantuntevasti "nämähän on opittu jo ylä-asteella"''äänensäävyllä sivistää miestäni Korean historian heijastumista nykypäivän Korean uutisiin. Luonnollisesti rakensin samaan hengen vetoon jonkunlaisen heiveröisen aasian sillan Yhdysvaltojen presidentteihin. Mieheni oli vaikuttunut vaimonsa yleissivistyksestä. Ha, tack så mycket Jonas!

Juonesta ei sen enempää sillä kirja oli mielestäni viehättävä juuri yllättävien käänteiden johdosta ja lumouduin uskomattoman tarinan edetessä mitä riemastuttavin poluin. Suosittelen lämpimästi.

Kumman kirjan lukisit kansikuvan perusteella? Onneksi käteeni osui englanninkielinen versio, suomenkielinen olisi saattanut jäädä hyllyyn.

Which language version wuold you choose based on the cover? Luckily I picked up the English version, based on the cover in Finnish version, I  could have missed the whole book!

I read an excellent book. One of the best I have read in ages. Bought it quite randomly but oh boy, what a book!

It is funny, grazy and surprisingly educational.The more I read, more I blushed for the embarashment of my own poor knowledge of the history of the last decade. However, thanks to Jonas Jonasson I was able to explain to my husband (with great wishdom, "this is the stuff  I learnt in elementary school"-tone in my voice) all about Korean war and how it reflects in todays news in Korea. I also added something about US presidents just to show off all the knowledge I had gained. My husband was impressed how wise wife he has. Ha, tack så mycket Jonas!

The title tells the plot of the book and I am not going to reveal any further as the beauty of this book lies in the surprising events smoothly flowing from one to another. I warmly recommend this book!
